#10: Don’t be afraid to start over!!
I’d been loc’d for 5 years and originally wanted to comb them out in February of 2019. I was too scared to do it because the idea of starting over was daunting as I’d be embarking on a journey (loose natural) that I was completely unfamiliar with. I decided to keep my #locs but over the summer, the desire to start over got more and more intense. I think finding out I was pregnant gave me the extra push because that too was a journey I was unfamiliar with so I got the materials and 1.5 weeks later, they were out!
As I’ve said in previous posts, it didn’t take long for me to realize that locs are just...me. They embody my personality, my wild and rebellious spirit and my connection to my crown chakra. They’re a never-ending journey backed by a community of people enduring similar transitions and it’s then that I realized, I needed them back.
So I encourage you as you venture into the following months of 2020 to divorce yourself from the notion that starting over connotes anything negative. Start over as many times as you need to feel whole, happy and complete!
